Whole Foods King Cake

My husband is in major trouble! He brought this Whole Food"s King Cake home yesterday and insisted that this is the best King Cake he has ever had! That is pretty big since he spent many a year reveling in New Orleans. He said it is better than the infamous Randazzo's King Cake.

I checked out the Randazzo's website... thinking I should order one of these famous King Cakes. "Featured on the Food Network's popular program "Unwrapped", Randazzo's Camellia City Bakery continues a long family tradition of hand made and braided king cakes. We say with heartfelt sincerity that everything at Randazzo's is "made with love from beginning to end." Try a REAL New Orleans king cake ~ and discover why Randazzo's Camellia City Bakery has become a true New Orleans Mardi Gras Tradition. Order online and we'll ship your kingcake within two days!"

I don't know about Randazzo's, but I do know that I should have never tried this Whole Food's King Cake... it is insidiously good! I have had King Cake on the brain all day.... that is how good it is. As I mentioned previously, it is a complete SUGAR RUSH and you actually feel awesome and then comes the crash. The King Cake is sort of like a cinnamon roll pastry with this awesome icing and then sprinkled with Mardi Gras Colored sugar.

I honestly don't indulge in these things very often but when I saw the praline filling oozing out of it....I could not resist.

Steve said he might have to try the Whole Food's Raspberry Cream Cheese King Cake.... I am doomed!

Well the great thing about the Wholefoods King Cake is that it is made without preservatives and harmful dies, most of the other king cakes are made with partially hydrogentated oils, preservatives and a bunch of other crap, at least with wholefoods you get pure SUGAR and all the pure stuff!

I tried the Whole Foods king cake in 2009 and it was one of my favorites. I bought it this year and was very disappointed. It tasted as though it was baked somewhere else, frozen, shipped in, defrosted and put on the shelf. Very very disappointing. I would rather spend my money on something that was worse for me, that I only eat seasonally, than throwing out an uneaten King Cake.

Took the King Cake to work and everybody loved it! Alot of fun joking and guessing where the baby was and who would get it.
