I hope everyone is having a great Friday. I have been super busy the last few days and am really looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and chilaxing this weekend:) Yesterday, I had one of those back-to back days that lasted until 8:30pm. As part of the Girl's Scouts Troop the kids and I went to the Oregon Food Bank and volunteered packing food. This was a great experience and I want to go back soon. The kids were fantastic and we helped pack 25,792 lbs of potatoes! Great job everyone.
One of the cool things I like about my kids' school is that Laurelhurst requires that all 6th graders do 6 hours of community service each semester. Emmet tagged along with us last night and is off to Marquam Park tomorrow to do another 3 hours of community service.
Since 1982, Oregon Food Bank has been leading the fight against hunger in Oregon and southwest Washington by collecting and distributing food through a network of four OFB branches and 16 independent regional food banks. The OFB Network helps nearly 1 in 5 households fend off hunger. OFB also leads statewide efforts to increase resources for hungry families and to eliminate the root causes of hunger through advocacy, nutrition education, garden education and by helping communities strengthen local food systems.
Volunteer
You can make a difference.
Give the gift of your time and talent as an OFB volunteer and make a direct impact in the fight against hunger. Volunteering is a great way to make friends, learn something new and have fun while fighting hunger in your community.
Volunteers are vital to the work we do! You repackage food donations, lead nutrition education classes and gardening workshops, lend a hand at food and fundraising events and much more.
We will definitely volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank again.
I have more to report but will check back with you tomorrow.... I will be announcing the Smith Teamaker Giveaway in the A.M!!
